Artist Bio

Dead Ahead
Dead Ahead is a band that plays improvisational rock and blues based music. The band covers music from a diverse set of artists which include The Allman Brothers Band, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Band, Jerry Garcia, Warren Haynes, The Grateful Dead and more. A typical night of music with Dead Ahead features lyrical improvisations, tight rhythms and emotion packed vocals with just the right sense of space that has proven to consistently please crowds all over Long Island. Besides making notable appearances at local music festivals such as The Strawberry Festival in Mattituck, NY and the Cedar Beach Blues Festival, Dead Ahead has also appeared on several radio shows such as The Graveyard Blues Radio Show on WRCN 103.9 and the Long Island Blues Warehouse, an Internet based radio show that has also hosted the likes of Johnny Winter and Greg Allman.

The Patteron B Side Band
In my first experience hearing Tom Chupka play at One Main, he flashed a broad smile from ear to ear and started playing his Gibson with that distinct strumming style that makes you think he’s got a bass and keyboard player hidden strategically nearby. Then he sang Walking in Memphis and I was lost in the moment singing along and unaware of activity around me... When he got to Englishman in New York, the entire bar was singing along and smiling with him. if you catch his solo acts, you will witness someone who is driven by a higher power and you can just sense that he is actually enjoying playing almost as much as you are enjoying listening... It wasn’t until half a year later that we discovered he is a stellar electric guitar player as well... adds such richness to the B Side band. Without him, we would not be the B Side Band. Nope.
Henry Goode is the groove man on the bass... he is the reason we all come together. When you think the sound is in need of a accent, you don’t even have to ask, he feels it too, and he adds a sensational harmony at the absolute right place. His singing voice is clear, direct and perfectly on pitch, whether it’s in harmony or lead vocals. Watch for one of his bass leads in our longer jam songs, you’ll be mesmorized. During practice he hears things others don’t - "hey, what would this note sound like on the flute right here?" or "Hey what if you played that chord on the 7th fret instead?" And, his expertise at sound engineering is no small part of the reason we sound so good onstage. He is ever so patient with our constant complaints and requests to tweak this or turn that up. Tolerant, rhythmic, and sweet sounding groove dude... that’s Henry.
Speaking of musical direction, Frank Patterson is not only one of the most accomplished drummers on Long island, he is our musical director without a doubt. He writes the original songs for the group, and will painstakingly direct us to go through the same few bars of a song over and over until we get it right. His start was with Marching Bands and Drum Corps, then as Air Force Band drummer playing all over the world, and spent a year in the Drummer’s Collective spending all day every day learning some of the best rhythms and techniques from all over the world. His gentle soul combined with his perfect drumming technique and knowledge of music theory translates into a musical drumming style that is unmatched in the local band scene. We are blessed to have him lead us and keep us in the right tempo. Listen for his solos, and you will feel as if you are in the presence of a master drummer. Frank is the heart of the Patterson B Side Band.
Marie comes to us from the classical music scene, and has added that very important icing on the cake, and makes our songs sound sexier and more tasteful all at the same time. Her patience with learning new material with key changes from the original recordings, and her ability to quickly offer up a unique and beautiful solo to any style of music has quickly become something we depend on. At first, Marie accompanied us on a few songs, and now we can’t imagine a full performance without her. She and Tom swap leads like two musicians that have played together for many years... it’s a fun call and answer to not only listen to, but to watch. Marie makes the band beautiful.
